Strong Authentication Solutions

Strong Authentication for Workstation and Network Access

For those looking to protect access to workstations and network resources, ActivIdentity offers solutions for two-factor authentication for workstations and networks. Using two factor authentication, organizations can deploy smart cards or USB tokens to protect pre-boot process, authentication to the workstation, and access to network resources. When done with their work, users simply remove their smart card to lock the system and make it available for other users.

ActivIdentity solutions support heterogeneous environments and open standards. IT organizations can use the same smart card or USB token to access workstations and networks based on Microsoft® Windows®, Linux, and Sun® Solaris™ workstations. Smart cards and USB tokens can also be used to protect access to standard desktop computers as well as thin clients hardware and terminal server software from Sun®, Citrix®, NeoWare®, and Wyse®, and to enable two-factor authentication to Wireless Networks.

Features and Benefits

  • Strong, consistent security: IT organizations can secure all of their workstations, on the most popular operating system platforms and thin computing environments. Use the same smart card or USB token to access different platforms.
  • Thorough data protection: Keep sensitive data safe, especially when in transport in laptops. Using pre-boot protection, encrypted file systems, and strong authentication, data cannot be extracted out of a lost or stolen laptop.
  • Accelerates access: Users no longer need to repetitively type in usernames and passwords to log in, and no longer need to access menus to log out. Simply insert the authentication device and type in the PIN to log in, and remove the device to lock the workstation again. Combine with ActivIdentity single sign-on solutions for application password reduction.
  • Enforces compliance: With two-factor authentication, there is a strong link between users and online activity. Users no longer share passwords, and they must have their authentication device in order to log in. Workstations stay locked and protected from unauthorized access.
  • Return on investment: Smart Cards enable two-factor security for many other applications such as remote access, data security such as data encryption, digital signatures, electronic forms, and secure e-mail as well as facilities access, replacing redundant management and authentication methods.
